Hi, I'm Jusuf! I'm in 9th grade at Westwood HS and love playing the viola. I'm part of the Westwood HS Orchestra, and music has been a significant part of my life, I am excited to share my musical journey with you!
June 10 - 20, 2024
Jusuf had the incredible opportunity to attend the Texas Strings Festival for Rising Stars. This overnight camp was designed for advanced students, providing an immersive experience to hone our musical skills. This camp is also a great opportunity to experience student life on the UT Austin campus.
Thank you Kerson Leong for a wonderful master class and inspiring performance
The Chamber Music in Public Schools ("CHAMPS") Program, now under the sponsorship of Classical Sound Concerts, is being relaunched after a pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mariama Alcantara and Toby Blumenthal coach a piano quartet at Canyon Vista, inviting Kylie Xu (Piano), Daniel Li (Violin), Jusuf Rivai (Viola), and Jay Shah (Cello)
Project Melody is a volunteer student group dedicated to spreading the passion for music. Jusuf often performs at nursing homes and retirement communities across Austin. The quartet consists of a mix of Jay Shah (Cello), Alice Zhang (Cello), Jusuf Rivai (Viola), Cathy Chen (Violin), Shannon Yuan (Violin), Kylie Xu (Piano), and Daniel Li (Violin).
Jusuf is also an active member of the Austin Youth Orchestra ("AYO"), where he plays in the symphony orchestra. His involvement with the AYO allows him to refine his musical abilities and contribute to high-quality performances.
Jusuf is part of the Canyon Vista Honors Orchestra, which has been named the TMEA JH/MS Honor Full Orchestra, ranking #1 in the entire state of Texas for the 2023-2024 school year.
This recognition is the highest honor an orchestra can receive in Texas, and it reflects the hard work and dedication of all the students involved.
